The Vision: A Home Built for a New Chapter
This project was part of a new beginning. A newly married couple was building their forever home, designed to support their life together as a blended family. From the earliest planning stages, the home was envisioned as a place for connection, entertaining, and everyday comfort.
Hosting family and friends mattered. So did simplicity. Technology needed to feel effortless, intuitive, and fully integrated into the design of the home rather than layered on after the fact.
From the start, the goal was clear. Create a home where lighting, comfort, security, entertainment, and outdoor living all worked together seamlessly.
The Challenge: Designing Technology Into a Finished Vision
This was a ground-up new construction project led by Bingham Development LLC with interior design by Oliver Max Design. Every finish, material, and space was thoughtfully considered, which meant technology had to be planned with the same level of care.
The challenge was not scale, but coordination. Wireless lighting, climate control, smart locks, Wi-Fi, cameras, audio, and video all needed to be specified, documented, and executed in close collaboration with the builder and designer. Nothing could feel intrusive. Nothing could disrupt the aesthetic vision.
The homeowners also wanted a house that entertained effortlessly, indoors and out, without requiring constant interaction with technology.
Our Approach: Collaboration From the Beginning
The Sound Vision worked hand in hand with the builder and designer throughout the project, participating in specification reviews, infrastructure planning, and on-site coordination.
By being involved early, we were able to ensure that all technology systems were fully integrated into the construction process rather than treated as add-ons. Control4 served as the foundation, allowing every system to operate through a single, intuitive platform.
Every decision was guided by one principle. Technology should enhance the experience of the home without drawing attention to itself.
The Solution: A Fully Integrated Smart Home
Whole-Home Control and Automation
Control4 runs the entire home. Lighting, thermostats, smart door locks, security cameras, Wi-Fi, and entertainment systems are unified under one interface. The homeowners can manage the entire property from wall keypads, touchscreens, or their mobile devices.
Wireless lighting control provides flexibility without compromising design, while integrated thermostat control ensures comfort throughout the home with minimal effort.
AI-powered Luma cameras deliver security and peace of mind without constant notifications or visual clutter. Smart locks provide convenient access control while maintaining a clean exterior appearance.
Lower-Level Entertainment Designed for Gathering
The lower level was intentionally designed as a destination for entertaining.
A custom bar anchors the space, with a dedicated area for a Euchre table that reflects how the homeowners actually spend time together with family and friends. Adjacent to this is a comfortable family room seating area with a television and integrated audio, creating a space that transitions easily from card games to movie nights or casual conversation.
Audio was carefully balanced to support the entire space without overpowering conversation, allowing multiple activities to coexist comfortably.
Outdoor Living With Expanded Coverage
Outdoor entertaining was just as important as the interior spaces.
An outdoor television and audio system support casual viewing and gatherings around the outdoor kitchen. During the project, it became clear that additional audio coverage would improve the experience beyond the kitchen area.
A second outdoor audio zone was added to extend sound coverage across the lanai and adjacent paved outdoor living space. This ensures consistent, immersive audio throughout the entire outdoor environment, whether guests are gathered around the kitchen, relaxing under cover, or moving between spaces.
